Prepare to be ‘Amazed’ when Lonestar takes the Mill Town stage

BREMEN, Ga. -– The multi-platinum, country music quartet Lonestar will bring a little Texas flavor to Mill Town Music Hall on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Opening the concert, and making his return to the venue, will be Brent Rupard.

Lonestar, which is still led by original lead singer Richie McDonald, has been entertaining crowds for more than two decades with robust melodies, fine vocals and well-grounded country roots.

"Tequila Talkin’" was the first of the band’s nine songs to reach Number One on the Hot Country chart. Other songs reaching the peak include "No News," "I’m Already There" and "Smile." However, it was their crossover hit "Amazed" that also reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100. While they enjoy making albums and performing at concerts, what they love most is the impact their songs make on the lives of others.

Pregnant woman shot to death in front of toddler

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The mother of a pregnant woman murdered in her apartment is making a public plea to help police catch her daughter's killer.

Family members found Nakita Holland's body Monday evening inside her home at 150 Bennett Circle. They asked the landlord to let them into the apartment after they were unable to contact the victim. When they got inside, they found Holland dead and her 2-year-old daughter crying, unable to understand what had happened or get help.

"It's hard man just to look and see her sister cry, it's hard. Her sister stayed up all night, she won't sleep, it hurts," said Nikki Brewer, one of Holland's close friends.

Small plane lands on Carroll County road

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. -- No one was hurt when a small plane was forced to land on a Carroll County road Thursday morning.

The Beech 35 aircraft landed at around 8 a.m. on Georgia 100 near Mitchell Road, not far from the Georgia-Alabama border. No cars were on that particular stretch of road at the time.

The pilot, Lewis Barnes, who is from Alabama, said he was flying his son-in-law back home to Acworth after a family vacation in Destin, Fla. He said there was enough fuel to make the trip, but bad weather and a faulty gauge left them with low fuel and nowhere to land.

Traffic control suggested that they land at the Carrollton airport but after several failed attempts, Barnes was forced to find somewhere safe to put the plane down.

The only reported damage to the aircraft was a small dent in its wing.

The FAA is investigating the incident.

During the scuffle, there was one gunshot fired which struck a teen, identified as Timbarland Crowder, 17, in the chest.
