CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The University of West Georgia is pleased to mark Earth Day with a series of environmentally-conscious events that are free and open to the public.

The festivities are designed to get people involved in Going West and Going Green, cleaning and beautifying the land and river around UWG's scenic Carrollton campus.

Monday, Apr. 18
* Keep Carroll Beautiful ribbon cutting and birthday party
4:30 p.m., SCRAP Bin (105 Folds Drive, Suite 3, 30117)

* Movie Night: WALL-E
7 p.m., UWG Callaway Building, Room 145

Tuesday, Apr. 19
* Flower planting
12 noon, John Tanner State Park (354 Tanner Beach Road, 30117)

Wednesday, Apr. 20
* Fundraiser and recycling workshop to benefit SCRAP Bin
11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., UWG University Community Center

Thursday, Apr. 21
* The Rock and Mineral Roadshow
5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., UWG Coliseum, lower parking lot

Friday, Apr. 22 (Earth Day)
* River cleanup
9 a.m. to 12 noon, beginning at SpinnerZ Family Skate Center (117 Highway 113 North, 30117)
Shuttle service will be provided from the UCC at 9 a.m.

* Litter lug
9 a.m., UWG Stadium

* Day hike
Van leaves UCC at 2 p.m. for McIntosh Reserve

* Campus tree planting
1:30 p.m., flag pole on Front Campus Drive

Saturday, Apr. 23
* Pickup with the Pack
9 a.m. to 12 noon, beginning at Food Lion (180 Maple Street, 30117)
Shuttle service will be provided from the UCC at 8:45 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

* Ultimate Frisbee Annual Earth Day Tournament

* Community Foundation Park Project
