Billy Dean, Kris Allen to perform at Mill Town

BREMEN, Ga. -- Mill Town Music Hall is excited to celebrate New Year’s Eve with Billy Dean and his band, The Steel Horses, on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. American Idol champion Kris Allen will perform from his collection of soulful pop-rock hits on Friday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. Tickets for both of these concerts went on sale Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. Concert goers will be entertained by two great vocalists as they sing from their own music collections.

The New Year’s Eve Celebration will be highlighted with Billy Dean, who will perform during an evening full of family-friendly events to ring in the New Year. Following the concert, there will be a dessert and coffee bar, a dance party featuring 60’s, 70’s and 80’s music, viewing of Atlanta’s Peach Drop on the big screen and a sparkling cider toast at midnight. An optional dinner buffet catered by Events by Joshua D is available prior to the concert.

PROBE College Fair coming to Carrollton

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The popular PROBE College Fair will stop in Carrollton next week, giving high school students an opportunity to speak directly to representatives from their favorite colleges and universities.

The fair will be Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the University of West Georgia's Coliseum.

A number of schools in several states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and the Carolinas, will be represented. See a complete list of participating colleges.

Kenny Loggins will be ‘Footloose’ at Mill Town

BREMEN, Ga. -- Crowned “The King of the Movie Soundtrack,” Kenny Loggins will be performing at Mill Town Music Hall on Monday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Loggins' remarkable four-decade-plus career has brought him from the top of the charts to the toast of the Grammys. He has recorded 12 platinum albums, won a pair of Grammys, and placed hits on almost all of the Billboard charts. He’s also found his way into children's hearts while bringing his soulful, beautiful voice to a stunning variety of genres. He began his career as part of a successful duo with Jim Messina.

Some of his biggest hits include "House at Pooh Corner;" "Forever, I’m Alright" from the Caddyshack soundtrack; "Footloose" from the self-titled movie; "Playing with the Boys" and "Danger Zone" from the Top Gun soundtrack; and "For the First Time" from the It’s About Time soundtrack.

BREMEN, Ga. -- Back by popular demand, the children’s live musical extravaganza VeggieTales Live! returns for two shows on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The ‘Silly Song Sing-Along’ tour stars everyone’s favorite veggies and appeals to the whole family. Parents and kids will be dancing and singing along with the larger-than life VeggieTales’ characters.

This year’s show is full of silly songs as the Veggies gather to decide their favorite silly song. Things get crazy when no one can choose the silliest song. A new machine is introduced that can disclose the silliest of all the silly songs. Suddenly, the machine breakdowns and Jimmy goes missing.

Race this weekend: Gold Rush Festival

VILLA RICA, Ga. -- Every year, Villa Rica celebrates its gold rush heritage with a festival, a parade -- and a 5K.

The 2014 Gold Rush Festival 5K will be Saturday, Sept. 6 in downtown Villa Rica. It starts at 8:30 a.m., giving runners plenty of time to conquer the course and then enjoy the 10 a.m. parade.

Registration is $20 and includes a race T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers, masters finishers and three finishers in each age group.

BRIDGE hosts 5K and West Georgia SingOff

BRIDGE (Bringing Resources in Drug Gripped Environments) is celebrating its 5th anniversary in West Georgia by picking up the pace this year with a variety of community health education and fundraising events.  The fun-filled and educational weekend is Oct. 17-18 and includes The Annual West Georgia SingOff at Mill Town Music Hall, the 5th Annual BRIDGE 5k Race, The 21st Bremen Towne Festival and more.  • West Georgia SingOff – Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.
  • West Georgia’s version of The Voice and one of the Annual Fundraising competitions is held at and sponsored by Mill Town Music Hall.  Singers throughout the Southeast come to participate in front of professional judges for cash prizes.  Entry fees are $30 and their fans are invited to attend and vote for their favorite artist for a fee of $5.  This year’s event will feature three categories-ages 10-13, 14-18, and adult.

Country music icon Marty Stuart brings ‘hillbilly rock’ to Mill Town

BREMEN, Ga. -- Be "Tempted" to hear five-time GRAMMY-winner Marty Stuart and his band, The Fabulous Superlatives, perform at Mill Town Music Hall on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Since singing gospel as a child, Stuart has spent more than four decades celebrating American roots music with a missionary's zeal. Country musician Sam Lewis will open for Stuart.

In addition to his collection of GRAMMYs, Stuart is a platinum recording artist, Grand Ole Opry star, country music archivist, Southern culture historian, photographer, musician, songwriter, TV show host, charismatic force of nature, and country music fan. He spent his teenage years on tour with bluegrass legend Lester Flatt in the '70s followed by six years in Johnny Cash's band during the '80s and a chart-topping tenure as a solo artist in the '90s.
