Mobile Mammography Center coming to metro Atlanta

(WXIA) -- The BelkGives on the Go Mobile Mammography Center will make several stops in the Atlanta area this week.

The state-of-the-art screening center will stop by Belk stores to give free mammograms to customers.

Women who are at least 40 years old, have primary care doctors, have no history of breast concerns and have not had mammograms in the last 12 months are encouraged to schedule appointments with the Mobile Mammography Center by calling 855-655-BMMC.

The mammograms are performed by licensed technologists from Charlotte Radiology. After their procedures, participants will be treated to free bra fittings at Belk.

The Mobile Mammography Center will stop at these Belk stores:

McIntosh Plaza, Carrollton
Wednesday, June 18, 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Ashley Park, Newnan
Friday, June 20, 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

‘Grits and Glamour’ tour coming to Mill Town

BREMEN, Ga. -- Veteran recording artists Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan will captivate the audience with their own country format, style and flair at Mill Town Music Hall on Saturday, June 28 at 8 p.m.

Both Tillis and Morgan grew up running around backstage at the Opry as children of their famous father musicians, the legendary Mel Tillis and the late Opry star George Morgan. The opening act will be 23-year old Logan Brill, who is an up-and-coming talent from Nashville.

Both artists combined have sold more than 18 million records, which include 28 Top 10 hits, and have had more than 12 No. 1 songs. They have an impressive list of accomplishments such as Grammy and Country Music Awards, movie and television credits and Broadway appearances. These women not only carry on the legacies of their famous fathers, they continue to turn heads and make hearts beat.

VILLA RICA, Ga. -- Villa Rica High School will host its first annual Flash Dash 5K this weekend.

The race will be Saturday, May 17 and is 1980's-themed, so runners are encouraged to dress in their favorite decade attire.

Race day registration opens at 8 a.m., and a kids' fun run will be at 9 a.m. The 5K will start at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by a day of food and games on the football field.

The event is $20 for adults and $12 for kids. Proceeds will benefit the school's Cheer Cats Booster Club.

Phelps’ melodies have been sung at Carnegie Hall, the White House and on numerous award-winning Gaither “Homecoming” collections.

Phelps is known for having an eclectic style that is sure to appeal to all musical preferences from gospel, country, contemporary and even classical.  Growing up in the tumbleweeds of Tomball, Texas, in a musical and faith-filled family, Phelps exhibited a gift in vocal performance at a young age.  Phelps went on to complete a music degree from Baylor University.

Goodwill to hold donation drive for veterans

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- Goodwill has planned a very special event to help local veterans find jobs.

"Driving Donations. Helping Our Heroes" is Goodwill's program designed to assist those who have served in the military.

NASCAR hopeful Garrett Smithley will host a Driving Donations event at Goodwill in Carrollton this weekend. Residents can bring gently used clothing and household items to the store on Sunday, Apr. 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Similar donation drives are planned for Newnan and Columbus as well.

Driving Donations hopes to bring in 2,000 donations. Funds from the items' sales will be used to finance career programs for area veterans.

Carrollton's Goodwill is located at 1301 South Park Place.
