'Rocky Horror Show' banned in Carrollton, opens Thursday -- in Carrollton
News

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The Rocky Horror Show starts a four-performance run on Thursday in Carrollton, nearly five months after the mayor banned the musical stage production from the city-owned theater downtown, where it was going to be presented.

He said it was too risque.

Supporters rallied, in Carrollton and beyond, and donors and investors raised the money needed to find another location.

They didn't have to go far.  Only a couple of miles.

The Townsend Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of West Georgia in Carrollton is hosting the show.

This video from 11Alive News Photojournalist Tyson Paul shows a few backstage clips from Preview Night, Tuesday.

The performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 2, 3 and 4, at 7:30 pm; and Sunday, February 5 at 3:00 pm.
