Scholarship campaign underway at UWG | News

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The University of West Georgia's scholarship campaign, Go West for a Day, is now underway.
The campaign's chairman, Steve Harrison said he would like to see UWG students worrying less about money and more about studying, according to UWG. Harrison started the campaign to give more scholarships to students so they can work less during college.
The campaign's first event was held in Bowden, and raised $10,000. Harrison spoke to alumni and community leaders there.
The next kick-off campaign event is set for Thursday, at 6 p.m. at the Dangel Theatre in the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts.
According to UWG, the campaign is in its 30th year. The money raised goes to the UWG Annual Fund, which has a $604,000 goal.
