(WXIA) -- Drivers who plan to use Interstate 20 this weekend are encouraged to find alternate routes.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will work on several major projects this weekend on the interstate that cuts across Atlanta.

"We have three projects with significant lane closures on I-20 this weekend," GDOT District Construction Engineer Shun Pringle said in a release. "We are expecting long delays, particularly in Douglas and Rockdale counties, during the daytime hours on Saturday and Sunday."

This weekend's road projects, many of which come with heavy delays, include:

Bartow County
* I-75 north: One left lane will be closed between four miles after Cass White Road to three miles after Cass White Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for concrete repouring and bridge repairs
* I-75 south: One right lane will be closed between four miles before Cass White Road to three miles before Cass White Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for concrete repouring and bridge repairs

Cherokee County
* I-575 south: One left lane and one right lane will be closed (rolling) between Highway 92 and I-75 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping
* I-75 south: One left lane and one right lane will be closed (rolling) between Highway 92 and Hudson Bridge Road (Henry) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping

Coweta County
* I-85 north: One left lane and one right lane will be closed (rolling) between one mile south of Ga. 14 and Ga. 20 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping
* I-85 north: One right lane will be closed (sweeping) between Collinsworth Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard (Gwinnett) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping
* I-85 south: One right lane will be closed between one mile before Collinsworth Road to Collinsworth Road from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for barrier wall removal

DeKalb County
* I-20 west: The ramps from Candler Road to Glenwood Avenue will be closed overnight Saturday for restriping

Douglas County
* I-20: One right lane will be closed in each direction between Liberty Road and State Route 5 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for patching and bridge repairs

Forsyth County
* Ga. 400 north: One left lane will be closed (rolling) between I-85 and Buford Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping
* Ga. 400 south: One right lane will be closed (rolling) between Buford Road and I-85 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping

Fulton County
* I-20 west: Three right lanes will be closed between Capitol Avenue and Windsor Street from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for restriping

Gwinnett County
* I-85 south: One left lane and one right lane will be closed (rolling) between Old Peachtree and Shallowford roads from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping
* I-85 south: One left lane and one right lane will be closed (rolling) between Buford Drive and Ga. 14 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping
* I-985 north: One left lane will be closed (rolling) between I-85 and Queen City Parkway (Hall) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping

Hall County
* I-985 north: One right lane will be closed between Friendship and Spout Springs roads from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for concrete slab replacement
* I-985 south: One left lane and one right lane will be closed (rolling) between Queen City Parkway and I-85 (Gwinnett) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping

Henry County
* I-75 north: One left lane and one right lane will be closed (rolling) between Hudson Bridge Road and Highway 92 (Cherokee) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping
* I-675 north: One right lane will be closed between Highway 138 and I-285 (Fulton) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping

Newton County
* I-20 west: One left lane and one right lane will be closed (rolling) between Highway 142 and Liberty Road (Douglas) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for sweeping

Rockdale County
* I-20 east: Two left lanes will be closed between Highway 138 and Almon Road (Newton) from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for milling and paving
