Carrollton neighbors encouraged by new street lights

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- In the days following the death of 13-year-old Nizzear Rodriguez, members of the small Carrollton community where he lived with his grandmother, are hoping his tragic death will bring about more security measures.

Tuesday morning, Carrollton Police Chief Joel Richards told 11Alive that the department would soon install more security cameras and more lights in the neighborhood, as well as stepping up their already increased patrols.

Friday, neighbors on Chancery Lane were pleased to see crews installing six new light poles. The residents told 11Alive's Blayne Alexander the street lights are the first step in a long list of necessary improvements.
