Holocaust survivor to speak at UWG

Holocaust survivor to speak at UWG

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- A 79-year-old Holocaust survivor will speak at the University of West Georgia this week.

Eva Kor was only 10 years old when her family was shipped to Auschwitz. She and her twin sister Miriam were part of Dr. Josef Mengele's experiments on twins -- experiments so brutal that, of the 1,500 sets of twins involved, only about 200 survived.

UWG student Katie Battle was instrumental in bringing Kor to campus.

"I have always been passionate about keeping Holocaust history alive. I believe it is imperative that we continue to talk about the horrible deeds the human race is capable of," Battle said. "Though it may be difficult to discuss, I feel that talking about the Holocaust encourages others to stand up to unethical acts and racism."
