CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. -- The Carroll County School System has nominated 23 stellar high school students for the prestigious Governor's Honors Program.

GHP is a residential summer program at Valdosta State University that gives young people an opportunity to study the areas in which they really shine. It allows gifted students to learn lessons not normally taught in classrooms.

Each nominee is interviewed or auditioned in his or her area of expertise. Nearly 3,000 Georgia high school students vie for up to 690 spots in the program every year.
