Local woman wins dream car from OnStar | Transportation
BOWDON, Ga. -- Bowdon resident Eyvonne Hill has pushed a number of buttons in her life, but none have yielded results quite like pushing the blue OnStar button in her Chevrolet Impala.
Hill was somewhat skeptical when she learned that this small action led to her winning a new car.
"I was like, wow," she said. "I was thinking maybe this was some kind of joke or something."
But it was no joke. Hill is the first of 10 people randomly selected as a winner of a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac of his or her choice as part of OnStar's Push On sweepstakes.
Hill chose a White Diamond 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV from Walker Cadillac Buick GMC in Carrollton as her prize. The car comes with 12 months of OnStar, a standard feature in all new Cadillacs.
Nearly 2.9 million OnStar customers pushed their vehicles' blue buttons to enter the sweepstakes, which ran from Mar. 15 to May 31.
The contest was aimed at reconnecting with drivers of GM vehicles who do not have active OnStar subscriptions; as a result of the sweepstakes, about half a million people activated their cars' systems.
"We are ecstatic that nearly half a million people like Eyvonne are now protected by the safety and security services only OnStar can offer," said Sam Mancuso, chief marketing officer of OnStar.
